STILLS

p-magon Stills originate from actual scenery of realities. They show landscape, objects, details - taken from every day life or great scenery from exotic places.  None of these images is planned, nor pre-arranged, yet all are thoroughly composed. Strong graphics are essential, imperfections in reproductions such as granularity, low-light distortions, fuzzyness are welcome. p-magon photography is reworked to our very particular style - often with reference to classic paintings.

just peak

€490.00 excl. shipping

just peak was taken in the Berner Oberland, Switzerland on a late afternoon in winter. The sun is about to send her last beams through the tree tops along the hillcrest in the foreground. The snowcovered rockface in the background is still illuminated, yet the night is near and cold will quickly take over from mild winter sun.

just peak is all about minimalistic graphics and near b/w colouring, focussed on the very single moment where sundown peaks. It displays a calm tension way beyound simple decoration.

thorvaldsens cut

€490.00 excl. shipping

thorvaldsens cut was taken in the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin. It shows a portrait of danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, painted by Karl Joseph Begas in 1823.

thorvaldsens cut somewhat plays with connotations on geometry: the lines defining the wallspace follow rather accurately the rules of the golden cut, thus referring to the golden frame of the painting which itself follows golden cut rules. The painted protrait adds life and playfull contrast to the otherwise super-clean, dramatically empty surfaces of the museum walls. The image weight clearly leans to the left. But at second or third glance, the structured surfaces claim attention and the three basic lines cut visual momentum to the right.

red noir

€490.00 excl. shipping

red noir happened on a beach in Kerala, southern India. The picture does not show any remarkable scenery, just two blurred beach strollers. red noir becomes a special, impressionistic picture through its composition - both graphically and color-wise. The few discernible elements in the blurry image - waterline, horizon, specks of birds and two people -seem to refer to each other and keep each other in balance. The sparse colour scheme in dominant light blue and beige is accentuated by the red clothing of the woman in the foreground and the black horizon line in the background.

Should any viewer spontaneously be reminded of works, especially beach scenery by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the photographer would of course reject any reference to the grand master of French Impressionism: Renoir, to his knowledge, has never been to India.
