lotus Ranger happened in Hangzhou, China, on the famous West Lake, back in 1984. A man dressed in the then-common Mao uniform and a crooked large straw hat works with two long bamboo poles to arrange lotus leaves on the water.
The image exudes contemplative calm and concentration. The graphic composition thrives on the vertical alignment of the body at right angles to the horizontal alignment of the punt, connected by the diagonally arranged bamboo poles. The large hat adds a round, harmoniously colored accent to this.
